Former player Da’Sean Butler has two main claims to fame.
His first one happened when he was at West Virginia. He tore his ACL, sprained his MCL, and sustained two bone bruises during his final college game. His coach Bob Huggins came over and hugged him while he was on the court.
It was actually a very touching moment, a coach caring for a player as he sobbed on the floor in tremendous pain.
Luckily, Butler’s other claim to fame is far more enjoyable.
About three months after his gruesome injury, the Miami Heat selected Butler with the 42nd pick of the 2010 NBA Draft. He ultimately never played for the Heat (or any NBA team, though he did get some minutes with the G-League’s Austin Toros), but he still made an impact.
Butler wrote a children’s story on Twitter, complete with basketball, dinosaur poop, and GameStop. And he did this before Twitter expanded its character limit, so he was only voicing his thoughts 140 characters at a time.
It’s already a wild story, but someone decided to turn it into an animated video. The video isn’t a verbatim retelling of the story, but it’s pretty close and equally bizarre. Click the below (or here) to watch it.
If you prefer to read the actual story, you can check out the full thing here, thanks to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
I hope it makes you just as happy as it makes me.
