My parents are visiting me and we’ve got a schedule jam-packed full of adventure. We’ve been eating great food, playing Jackbox, and enjoying each other’s company in person for the first time in about a year and a half.

It’s been WONDERFUL, though as a result, I’ve had less time to put together an email for you to enjoy. But thankfully, talking a bit about college triggered a fun throwback.

At the start of the 2009-10 NBA season, my college pal Tom Murphy and I teamed up for a UMTV segment where we quizzed fellow Miami Hurricanes students about basketball.

I love a good “man on the street” style interview and we certainly used that a lot in college. You never knew what kind of gold you’d get! Plus it’s significantly less work on my end, and you know I appreciate some good efficiency.

Since this is a newsletter about basketball, I wanted to share these videos. Murph and I get people’s predictions on their best and worst teams and quiz them on important trivia items like “what is Shaq’s shoe size?”; “how do you pronounce ‘Zydrunas Ilgauskas?’”; and “name a player on the Memphis Grizzlies.”

Remember, this was in 2009. The Grizzlies were very bad back then. And we’re also in Miami — that’s like six states away.

In any case, I hope you enjoy this little walk down memory lane. And, my goodness, that’s a wrinkled shirt I’m wearing. College me wasn’t great with an iron.

Also, if you’re curious, Murph has continued to be a broadcasting savant. He even went viral while he was in Alpena, Michigan, with his fabulous sports and pop culture references while serving as meteorologist at a local station. Check that out here.
