New NBA Team Jerseys, Ranked

This summer has brought us a barrage of new NBA team jerseys.

It’s the perfect time to do it. Every team is 0-0, and they all have title aspirations, no mater how slim.

Of course, a month into the season, we’ll probably have about a quarter of the teams already giving up.

But for now? We’re all onboard. And six teams have announced new jersey designs for next year (and even subsequent years, in one team’s case).

Whose threads are the best? Why, let’s do a ranking!

6. Golden State Warriors

The Warriors won the NBA championship last season, so of all the NBA teams, they probably have the least reason to make a statement.

Perhaps it’s fitting, then, that their new “Statement” jerseys are…well, pretty boring.

I suppose the statement is that they’re the NBA champs and they don’t need a flashy jersey. But considering this is supposed to represent like 60 years of history, I would just expect something more, you know?

5. San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs have never been one to shy away from boring black and white (with a touch of gray) jerseys, and this one is no exception.

In fact, this uniform is a “Statement” jersey, too. Maybe that’s just code for “meh.”

The most exciting thing about this jersey reveal is the blanket it’s photographed on.

I will give the Spurs credit, though. The SATX alternate jerseys are kinda nice, and, dare I say…a little flashy? How un-Spurs-like!

4. Utah Jazz

While the Spurs are too basic, the Jazz have too much going on.

The throwback to their “mountain” jerseys is kind of fun. And hey, that’s when the team had its best seasons (the back-to-back NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998), so why not chase that feeling of success?

But they just have SO MANY COLORS. Look how many outfit changes Jordan Clarkson has to do in this teaser video below!

For a team whose official colors are black, white, and yellow, it’s weird that they’re so heavily leaning into purple.

Not only do they have a purple mountain jersey for next season, they’ve got a DIFFERENT one planned for the 2023-24 season. Wow.

3. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs have a lot going on, too, yet I like their mix of colors.

Perhaps it’s because I went to a wine tasting tonight, but the “wine” version is pretty nice! Look at it go.

I also appreciate that each variety has a different team name. You’ve got the full “Cleveland,” a “Cavs,” and just a C.

That’s the type of efficiency we like over here.

2. Milwaukee Bucks

Okay, now we’re talkin’!

The “Fear the Deer” look has always been a favorite of mine, and these new Bucks unis are a far cry from their OG cute reindeer mascot.

The antlers running down the sides are SLICK. And unlike the Spurs, it’s proof you can have a black and white jersey that looks fantastic.

1. Detroit Pistons

Some might argue this is one of the most hideous jerseys in the land. I disagree.

These “new” Pistons jerseys are really just a return to form. The horse head is a classic look from when all 90s jerseys were cartoonish, and I loved every minute of it.

For millennials wackadoos like me that crave nostalgia, this is perfect.
